Calatrava Bridge

Calatrava bridge in Israel, designed by the famous spanish architect and engineer, Santiago Calatrava.

This bridge that is designed for the light train is 300 m long and connects between Herzl Boulevard and Jaffa Road in Jerusalem.

The bridge is a unique suspension bridge designed with especially large tension and twisting loads

The foundation is on a piled raft.

The main raft is close to an existing tunnel.

The piles are 90 cm diameter piles driven in rock by a special technique developed for the project.

This technique kept the noise within permitted levels and the work to be performed without emitting dust.

The foundation system is equipped with measuring instruments which will continue operating after the bridge is constructed and they will measure the resultant movements during and after construction.
